Day of the Girl was October 11 and a several organizations went above and beyond this year by creating campaigns geared around this day. We thought it would be nice to highlight these organizations and let you know how you can get involved. It is also great to see how much girl power is out there; kudos to all the organizations out there working to uplift and inspire girls and women.
The Coalition for Adolescent Girls is a committed to supporting, investing in, and listening to adolescent girls so that they may one day become the leaders they were born to be. They know that girls can break the cycle of poverty if we focus on their needs and education. They are supported by The Nike Foundation. Tweet #GirlsEngage to get in on the discussion!

I am a Girl is a documentary film that depicts the lives of six girls coming of age in different parts of the world and what their reality looks like growing up as a girl. Women and Girls Foundation is a community based organization working toward equality for women and girls in Southwestern Pennsylvania. WGF is taking on the TAKE3 pledge. This is a pledge by parents and children to make sure everyone receives the HPV vaccine to protect themselves from cancer. To support this cause take the pledge and then tweet #TAKE3 with a picture of you holding a sign that says TAKE3 to spread the word!
Teach a Girl to Lead is an organization striving to bring more women into public office. This begins with how we educate our girls. They ask the question, “If they can’t imagine a woman leader, then how can they become one?” To support TAG tweet “If I were President, I would _____.” And include #girlslead.
Plan’s Because I am a Girl campaign aims to support millions of girls to get the education, skills and support they need to transform their lives and the world around them. 1 in 5 girls of lower secondary school age is out of school. Because I am a Girl is making it a priority to change this. Raise your hand for girls and support their mission by signing their petition and tweeting about the cause with #ItsAGirlThing.
Girl Scouts build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts have started a campaign to get girls interested in learning to code. Visit Made with Code to create your own avatar and then share it on social media with the #IDG2014 and #GSUSA.
Pink Lemonade Stand Foundation is all about encouraging and guiding the next generation of female entrepreneurs with a variety of programs. Tweet about your business idea, dream, or motto with the hashtag #Girlpreneur to inspire the world!
The Working Group on Girls has a program that sends Girl Advocates to the United Nations to make sure girls’ voices and experiences are heard, listened to and taken seriously.
