Angela Martin :: Special Olympics Gold Medalist
Angela wants the world to know, “My Mom and Dad supported me throughout my whole life; they inspired me to be the best I can be.” From the beginning Angela wanted to do everything her siblings were doing: playing sports, going to school, enjoying the arts, and taking ballet and music lessons. She has done just that – participating in high school activities and then attending Bellevue College.
Angela first got involved in Special Olympics in 1977. She works full time in downtown Seattle at Grange Insurance Association and has participated in Special Olympics downhill skiing for over 20 years. Angela has served on the Special Olympics Board of Directors from 2004 to 2014 and traveled to Morocco as a representative at the Special Olympics International Global Conference.
Angela likes to quote Eunice Kennedy Shriver and to remind everyone that all people with intellectual disabilities really want is the chance to work hard and pursue their dreams.
