Karen’s Biography
Karen is the CEO and Co-Founder of Blink UX. Blink is a research and design firm specializing in the user experience of digital products, located in the waterfront area of Seattle, founded in 2000. We run a values based organization and nurture a culture of passionate people.
Blink’s mission: Making Technology Human. Born out of the passion to make things easier to use, Blink UX was built on a foundation of science, design, and the idea that every interaction can be meaningful if designed with a deep understanding of human behavior.
At Blink, Karen is focused on operations, processes, and systems, along with company vision and strategy. She manages a variety of client engagements and loves to spend time learning about each client’s unique business.
Karen began her career in 1986 studying Fine Arts in Vancouver, BC, at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design. She later moved into high-tech as a multimedia graphic designer working on cultural and educational CD Roms. Karen holds a degree in Art History & Visual Arts from the University of Victoria and is a graduate of Information Technology & Multimedia from Capilano College, Vancouver.
Karen was born and raised in Victoria, loves to ski and kiteboard, has a daughter, husband, and lots of animals. Karen is a member of the Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO). She is a former board member for the Seattle Youth In Focus organization, and is currently on the advisory board for The Tronie Foundation. Karen also runs Blink’s Art Gallery and Speaker Series program. Karen is a big advocate for girls and is the organizer of this event.
